Many wonder if it is necessary to be vaccinated against yellow fever to go to the United States. Relax, there is no need for it; however, for people who wish to stop by in Panama first, the vaccine is mandatory.
Do not forget that it is required only if you actually enter the country, passing through their immigration, which is not the case when making only one stopover or connection.
There are Copa Airlines flights to the US with a stopover in Panama. Tocumen Airport has a “common area” for connections that includes all departure gates. If you do not leave this area, there is no need for the vaccine. From the gates out, it is another story.
If you get vaccinated, remember that you should get the vaccine ten days before you travel and that people who have been immunized more than ten years should take a booster dose of the vaccine, as its validity is only 10 years. It is essential to take the International Vaccination Card proving it.
